About Us

Welcome to cfb Medical Centre

cfb medical centre was the brainchild of commercial farmers who banded together in 1979 to come up with private healthcare services for their members. At the time, the clinic was known as the Commercial Farmer’s Bureau and was located at Chadwick House, Chachacha road, Lusaka. An honorary Board of Directors was elected from the clinic members. Among the first doctors employed at cfb were Dr. Patel, Dr. Panchal, and Dr. Todd. As the clinic grew, it became open to the general public and its name was then changed to Care for Business.

In 1988, the late Mr. Robert Dean was elected Chairman of cfb. In the late 90s, the Board of Directors decided to look for a site on which to build a clinic with room for future expansion. The Board was able to obtain land from the MOTH Club off Addis Ababa Drive. By the year 2000, the clinic had grown big enough that it was prudent to expand and add an in-patient department.

cfb hospital was opened in July 2002, fulfilling the vision of the Board to have a fully functioning hospital with ICU, maternity, theatre, and cardiac emergency facilities. cfb medical Centre has continued to grow since and no employs over 180 staff members and has over 25 bed capacity. Plans to expand to 60 bed capacity are underway.

As of the mid-2010s, cfb is no longer known as Care for Business, and simply goes by the name ‘cfb medical centre’. The hospital’s current CEO is Dr. Reinhilde Lynen, and current CMO is Dr. Abel Mwale.

OPD SERVICES

The outpatient department (OPD) clinics are held in the main building and the Annex building. Appointments may be requested with a specific doctor, however, if a specific doctor is not available on the day or it’s fully booked, an alternative doctor will be available for consultation. All patients or visitors must report to the reception desk on arrival. There is a separate enquiry desk in the main building within the reception area. Patients who have been advised by the attending doctor that they will require a follow up appointment shoul arrange this with the doctor or alternatively make the follow-up appointment with the reception desk before leaving cfb. Although every effort is made to keep to the allocated appointment times, sometimes emergencies and other problems arise which may cause unavoidable delay. Nevertheless, it is expected that all patients will be seen within a reasonable period of their appointed time.
